Anniversary Thought 2

We were in the depths of the poison that we became,
but didn’t know why at that time.

She still prefers to think our destruction something inevitable,
or,
if there were choices that destroyed us,
they were mine.

If it was inevitable then it can all just be thrown away:
“it wasn’t meant to be”;
If I chose
then it wasn’t her fault
at all.

Either way
it makes it okay for her to
have moved on
before we’d really ever talked
about what was wrong.
